Sunderland eyeing up Bologna defender Lucumi

The Bologna defender is said to have a release clause in his contract of less than £25m and, according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, the Black Cats are preparing a bid.

Sunderland are reportedly set to try and negotiate a deal outside of that clause, but there are other interested parties and he will be attracting attention from other clubs around Europe.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to Serie A side Roma this summer.

While he is an experienced top-tier defender, his signing would represent yet another player who has never played in the Premier League.
