Students’ bright outlook offsets rising cost of uni

IT’S that time of year when thousands of new students are heading off to universities to start a new way of life.

School leavers from across the country who have worked hard and chosen to attend university are settling into their new homes and preparing themselves for Freshers’ week.

This year marks a huge uptick in new students’ self-confidence, with results from a survey showing 74% of them feeling ready to manage life away from home.

Student wellbeing is also higher than it has been since before Covid. This year’s intake are more resilient, financially confident and eager to live independently than their recent predecessors.

Universities play a larger part in the economic footprint of the UK than most people realise.

They are a huge source of export wealth for the country as well as massive employers. The financial turnover of universities can be astonishing. For example, the University of Manchester generates more revenue than Manchester United and Manchester City football clubs combined!
