MALAGA insist young gun Antonio Cordero is “100%” focused on the end of the campaign despite lingering speculation over a move to Newcastle United.

- By AARON STOKES AND STUART JAMIESON

The exciting winger is poised to join the Magpies this summer but first must help his current side avoid relegation from Spain’s second tier.

Cordero has been pursued by a number of European heavyweights, including Real Madrid and Barcelona, but Newcastle appear to have won the race by offering a substantial financial package to the teen sensation.

Reports of his future Tyneside switch had angered Malaga in recent weeks but the ongoing saga doesn’t appear to have affected the player as he bids to end the season on a high.

"I'm not going to talk about the individual,” Malaga manager, Sergio Pellicer, this week told Radio Marca. “It’s a collective moment. I see that everyone wants it and trains as we ask. I see the whole group aware.

“I talked to him and he’s 100%. Everything else escapes me. Some of them, they don’t know it, but they are going to score a very important goal this season.”
