Sites wait on impact of National Trust job losses

THE National Trust is set to cut at least 550 jobs across the UK - but it is not yet clear how the proposed cuts will impact on the North East.

The heritage conservation charity manages a series of sites in the region, including the Farne Islands, stately homes Cragside, Wallington and Seaton Delaval Hall, and some sites on Hadrian's Wall.

Bosses say that increasing costs are outstripping annual increases in visitors and donations, with changes made in Rachel Reeves’ budget adding £10m to the annual wage bill.
