CONSETT’S John Kennedy is relishing the chance to mix it with “guys I've watched on TV for the last 40 years” after booking his place at this month's Senior Open.
Kennedy, who won the Scottish Senior Men’s Open in June, went one better with victory in The R&A Senior Amateur Championship at Walton Heath.
He returned a closing 73 for an 11-under-par total of 277 in the Surrey sunshine, to finish a massive seven shots ahead of nearest competitors Todd White and Danny Nelson from the USA, and Ireland’s Jody Fanagan.
