THE grounds of Wallsend's Segedunum Roman Fort has now officially become the home of a Sycamore Gap sapling.
Elected Mayor Karen Clark and Mary Glindon MP helping to plant a Sycamore gap sapling at Segedunum Roman Fort in Wallsend
(SIMON GREENER)
Shortly before 1pm on Friday, a Sycamore Gap sapling was planted at North Tyneside's UNESCO World Heritage Site with the help of Mayor Karen Clark and Mary Glindon MP.
North Tyneside was gifted an extra sapling following from the 'Tree of Hope' initiative, which saw 49 saplings distributed across the UK.
The world famous Sycamore Gap was illegally felled in the early hours of September 28, 2023, sparking international outrage.
Following a Northumbria Police investigation and subsequent trial, Daniel Graham and Adam Carruthers were jailed for destroying the tree for four years and three months in July 2025.
