Seagull entangled in aerial freed by fire crew

A “SEAGULL in distress” was rescued after becoming entangled in a TV aerial in North Shields.

The incident saw two fire engines called out to Howdon Road on Monday.

The bird had string around its foot which had caught on a TV aerial - and the Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service was called by a concerned resident.

The Sunderland-based Pawz for Thought wildlife rescue and adoption charity were then called - as per an agreement they have with the fire service to support with incidents like this one.
