'Record' increase in funding for police force

POLICE forces in the North East will receive increased funding to help boost the number of neighbourhood officers on the streets.

The Government is set to invest arecord £18.4bn to cut crime and catch criminals. The Home Office says it is an increase of £796m compared to last year and a 2.3% real terms increase.
Northumbria Police will receive £440.3m, a cash increase of 4.3%, and Durham Constabulary will get £186.9m, a cash increase of 4.8%. Cleveland Police, who cover Teesside and Hartlepool, will receive £196.2m, a cash increase of 3.6%.
