quickly, amid what he calls a ‘disastrous window for Newcastle’

ALAN Shearer has urged Newcastle United to resolve Alexander Isak’s situation swiftly - and says he understands the player's position as he waits on a potential move to Liverpool.

Isak has told Newcastle he wants to explore a potential transfer away from St James’ Park. The striker missed the trip to the Far East after complaints of a minor thigh injury and doubts over his future.

Liverpool have been making advances towards the Swede for weeks now and finally submitted an official bid, thought to be around £110m, which was rejected out of hand by Magpies chiefs.

Isak is set to return to training this week, although Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has warned him his attitude must be good enough to fit in with the rest of the group. Liverpool, meanwhile, are understood to be monitoring the situation to see whether Isak pushes for an exit.
