YOUNGSTER SIGNS - WITH ACADEMY GRADUATE SET FOR EXIT

EMERGING fast bowler Archie Bailey is relishing the chance to fulfil his potential at Durham after signing his first professional contract with the county.

The 20-year-old Gloucestershire seamer has signed a three-year deal with Durham, describing his move to the North East as a “fantastic opportunity”.

Still in the early stages of his career, the right-armer has claimed 13 wickets in five first-class appearances, including an impressive debut at Lord’s claiming a crucial 4-30 in Gloucestershire’s victory over Middlesex last September.

Bailey said: “I'm really excited to be joining Durham and can’t wait to get started.

“This is a big step in my career, and I'm ready to give everything I've got to contribute both on and off the field.

“It's a fantastic opportunity for me to grow as a player under some top-tier coaches and be part of a team with such strong ambitions.”

Northampton-born Bailey featured for the First-Class Counties Select XI earlier this year, claiming two wickets against the Zimbabweans in May.
