No legal action planned on asylum seeker hotel

COUNCIL bosses in Newcastle are not planning legal action to stop asylum seekers being housed in a city centre hotel.
On Tuesday, the High Court granted Conservative-run Epping Forest District Council a temporary injunction requiring that asylum seekers are no longer accommodated at a hotel in Essex from September 12.
Labour ministers are now bracing for similar challenges from local authorities across the country.
But Newcastle City Council has confirmed that it will not be taking such a step.
There have been protests and counter-demonstrations in the city centre over recent weeks in relation to a hotel being used to house asylum seekers.
