A POPULAR Indian restaurant in Newcastle has taken home one of the top awards at the first ever British Curry Championship.

Held in Bradford this week, the inaugural ceremony aimed to shine a light on the brilliant staff at restaurants up and down the country.
Jaipur in Denton Burn finished top of the pops for the North East in the category of Curry Leader of the Year.
