Mall reveals plans for shops and leisure zone
The Journal
|December 01, 2025
THE owners of flagship North East leisure and shopping centre the Metrocentre have unveiled plans to create a new retail zone for visitors.
The Metrocentre Partnership has announced plans to completely refurbish and reposition The Forum, the area that has been home to more traditional traders for years, including independent operators and food and drink firms.
Now centre bosses plan to plough significant investment into transforming it into creating The Crescent, a new flagship destination set to champion independent retailers while also revitalising a key link mall within the centre.
Bosses said The Crescent proposal forms part of Metrocentre’s long-term vision to boost the connection between the Blue Mall and Green Malls, pledging to create “a modern, character-led environment designed for a new generation of independent retailers”.
