NEWCASTLE United chiefs are set to change the club's badge for the first time since 1988 - but will give fans the opportunity to vote on what happens next.

Fans will vote on a number of crests and the club insists those supporters will have the final say on the new badge.

Rival clubs like Everton and Leeds United have encountered a backlash after changing crests with the Toffees eventually forced to reverse plans on new badge.

Fans will get three options, but that will not include retaining the current crest, which has served Newcastle throughout the Kevin Keegan and Sir Bobby Robson eras.

Instead, a vote will be cast on what happens next and fans will get a week to have their say on what has been deemed a sensitive matter down the corridors of power at St James' Park.

However, Newcastle are not closing the door on a similar design that would see a refresh on the crest that many fans have grown up with.

Refine and revive are the key words that Newcastle are rolling out to fans when it comes to their feedback.
