MEET Jack Green - the United fan congratulated by Newcastle players after scoring in the ‘Half Time Challenge’ at St James’ Park.

The 32-year-old, from Longbenton, took part during Newcastle's 2-0 home win against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The challenge involved him trying to kick the ball into a small section of the net from the halfway line in front of a packed stadium. Jack would have been given three chances to hit the target but scored on the first attempt.

The chartered accountant was congratulated by Kieran Trippier and Nick Woltemade. He is the first ever winner of the challenge and has a prize of a trip to Las Vegas.

Jack told The Journal: “I hit the ball as cleanly as I wanted to, I caught it perfect. It was going towards the goal and I could hear the crowd getting excited. Then I heard the crowd roar as it went into the net and that’s when all the emotions came out.”
