Lasses in line for a big summer of change

AMANDA Staveley had grand plans for Newcastle United Women and showcased her dedication to the cause during her time on Tyneside.

"My ultimate aim is to take Newcastle competing into the Women's Super League," the former United co-owner told the i paper back in 2022.

Staveley may not have a say in these parts any longer but her bold vision regarding a top flight women's team in Newcastle is still very much shared by those in charge on Tyneside.

After all, after back-to-back promotions in 2023 and 2024, Becky Langley’s side finished fifth in their maiden Women's Championship campaign and know they are on the cusp of the big time.
