LATEST VERSION OF HYUNDAI'S STANDOUT SUV OFFERS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

IT'S KONA BE A MUST

HYUNDAI has undergone a significant transformation in recent years and the Kona is one of its standout models, competing in the SUV market with the likes of the Ford Puma and Skoda Kamiq.

It became a firm favourite with British drivers thanks to its excellent standard equipment, good looks and multiple powertrain options.

Now the Korean firm has introduced a second-generation version - but can it pick up where the old model left off?

WHAT'S NEW?

This Kona has improved powertrains and a more premium-feeling interior. It now has a curved and angular body, and there is more space inside.

There are sporty N-Line trim levels available as well as a boost in standard equipment. It also jumps ahead of the competition with plenty of different engines, including petrol, hybrid and an electric variant.

WHAT'S UNDER THE BONNET?

There are several powertrain options for the Kona, but we're driving the 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol. It produces 135bhp and 250Nm of torque, while you get 0-60mph in 10 seconds and a top speed of 121mph. Hyundai claims the car can do up to 52.3mpg on the combined cycle. It pumps out 145g/km of CO2.
