FROM TikTok to YouTube, the way audiences watch stories is changing fast and the North East is stepping up to the challenge.

- SAM WONFOR

The BBC and North East Screen have officially launched the Digital Accelerator a new yearlong initiative designed to boost the digital ambitions of production companies across North East England.

Originally announced at the Edinburgh TV Festival in August, the programme represents a £600,000 investment from the Corporation and the North East Screen Industries Partnership (NESIP), funded by the North East and Tees Valley Combined Authorities.

It aims to support up to four regional companies in piloting and producing digital-first content targeted at 16 to 24-year-olds on platforms including YouTube, TikTok and Twitch.

The initiative was unveiled at a recent packed-out launch event at ARC, Stockton where industry professionals, creators and freelancers gathered to learn more about how to apply and take advantage of the opportunities the scheme offers.
