How celebrating creativity boosts confidence levels

A QUIRKY project using neon paint and glitter glue is rewriting the story for young people who have been told they don’t quite ‘fit’ the system.

ImaginAble ME CIC wants to make sure no young person falls through the cracks. Based in Consett, the Glohouse at ArtTEE Studio is the brainchild of Tee Keers and Kaz Jervis.

They have created a safe, inclusive and quirky space for creative young people aged nine to 17, especially those who are neurodivergent, have special educational needs, are LGBTQ+, home-educated or struggling with their mental health.

Over the summer, free taster sessions were offered twice a week and welcomed more than 50 families and nearly 70 children through the door.

The project offers an after-school club where graffiti, manga, anime and a collaborative mural are giving kids the power to shout ‘safer to be me!
