Heed manager calls for run-in to be ‘attacked’

GATESHEAD manager Carl Magnay has called on his squad to “attack” the final games of the season as they look to secure a National League play-off spot.

Heed manager calls for run-in to be ‘attacked’

The Heed brought a much-needed end to a lengthy run of poor form last weekend when recent signings Ethan Robson and Tim Akinola both found the net on their home debuts as Dagenham and Redbridge were beaten at the International Stadium.

That has sent Gateshead into this evening's visit to Forest Green Rovers on a positive note as Magnay’s men prepare for the first step in what is a challenging run-in to the end of the regular season.

Following their long trip to Gloucestershire, the Heed will host promotion contenders York City on Good Friday lunchtime before making a relatively short trip to Hartlepool United on Easter Monday.

A final away day of the season comes on the final Saturday of the month with a visit to Boston United before the regular campaign is brought to an end with a home game against Southend United on May Bank Holiday Monday.

With several clubs in pursuit of a play-off place, the pressure is increasing at the top of the table - but Magnay has insisted his side can go into the run-in with confidence after last weekend's win.
