Head North for an overlooked jewel and a real happy place

A NORTHUMBERLAND town has been named the happiest place to live in the UK, as well as being described as an overlooked jewel.

Berwick-upon-Tweed, England's most northerly town, has been given the title by The Guardian, who have based their findings on access to nature and culture, a sense of community, distance to health services, and house prices.

Just 45 minutes from Newcastle by train, Berwick’s biggest draw is described as the heritage and architecture, including its Elizabethan town walls.
