Hard work pledge after Heed's poor run of form

(GREIG COWIE/ SHUTTERSTOCK)

GATESHEAD assistant manager Jacob Butterfield has pledged to “work relentlessly” to turn around a dismal run of form that has put the club’s National League status in jeopardy.

The Heed slipped to the foot of the table in non-league’s top flight as a first half penalty from former Newcastle United winger Callum Roberts and a late free-kick from Danny Whitehall condemned them to a 2-0 defeat against Scunthorpe United in midweek.

The loss means Gateshead have now emerged without a point from their last eight consecutive league games and have not taken maximum points from a league fixture since a 5-2 win at Morecambe in late September.
