WHILE we await the arrival of film awards season next month, the fashion world took the opportunity to indulge in a bit of backslapping on Monday with the CFDA awards in New York.

Fronting it out at 'Oscars' of the fashion world

Lily Allen

Hosted by the Council of Fashion Designers of America, they are dubbed the Oscars of the fashion world.

But it was a certain British pop star who brought the most drama to the red carpet.

First Lily Allen gave us the revenge album, as the 40-year-old dished the dirt on ex-husband, Stranger Things star David Harbour on West End Girl, her first LP in seven years (if you haven't heard it yet, do. Brutal is not the word). Then she served up a revenge dress in NYC. Although there was so little to Lily's outfit, that revenge ‘undress’ might be a more fitting description.

The silk and lace bra top and skirt ensemble, designed by Colleen Allen, was so revealing I could only publish a picture of the back of it in a family newspaper.
