A DRINK-DRIVER initially claimed he had agreed to swap seats with his passenger after he was caught behind the wheel of a car.

Ben Shields had downed half a bottle of whiskey and a pint when he was stopped by police whilst travelling through Hexham in a Vauxhall Brava.
A court heard that the 36-year-old was arrested after failing a roadside breath test but tried to claim he had actually been the passenger and had been forced to swap seats after the car was pulled over.
