Defoe is the latest to pile the praise on Xhaka

SUNDERLAND legend Jermain Defoe has described the club's summer recruitment as “top” with a special mention of Granit Xhaka.

The prolific ex-West Ham, Spurs and Portsmouth striker has been eulogising about just how good Sunderland's start to the season is.

Defoe grabbed a hatful of goals between 2017 and 2020 for the Wear-siders and is revered by the fans.

Now he has heaped praise on current captain Xhaka, claiming that the midfielder has been “amazing” for his old club.
