Decision on fate of four schools to be made soon

As 2026 draws closer, so does a decision on the future of four schools in North Tyneside.

Council chiefs are scheduled to reach a final decision over the schools in January.

North Tyneside Council's cabinet is scheduled to convene on January 12 to reach a decision over a number of local schools.

This would follow a public consultation, set to close on January 1, on proposals to close Hazelwood Primary School and move it to Greenfields Primary School and to relocate Forest Hall Primary into the Ivy Road Primary School site.

The Hazelwood and Greenfields plans are proposed to be implemented by September 2028, whereas the plans for Ivy Road and Forest Hall are set to be implemented in September 2026.
