Dame Chi 'proud and humbled' to receive honour

NEWCASTLE MP Chi Onwurah received her damehood on Tuesday and was wearing an outfit designed in the city and which reflected both her heritage and Tyneside itself.
Dame Chi was wearing a suit designed by Newcastle College University Centre student Lamin and his supervisors Lynne and Jordan which was inspired by West African fabric and “Geordie colours”.
She also wore a mini-trilby hat designed by Margaret Woodliff Wright and which used black and white fabric along side West African green and orange beads.
She also sported a Tyneside Irish Brigade Cap Badge, in a nod to her close ties with Newcastle's Irish community.
