AS MAGPIES ENTER KEY PERIOD OF THE SEASON, HEAD COACH SAYS IT'S NO TIME TO SIT BACK

Creating history is in our hands, says Howe

Eddie Howe will challenge his players to get through the month of October unbeaten

NEWCASTLE United boss Eddie Howe has warned his players they can't live off past glories ahead of a crunch period of the season with three campaign-defining fixtures coming up at St James' Park.

The Magpies travel to Brighton and Hove Albion for the first game after the international break on Saturday, but then face Benfica in the Champions League, Fulham in the Premier League, and Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup, all on Tyneside, before October is out.

Howe knows his side could be sitting pretty in the topflight and Champions League as well as securing a last eight place on the road to Wembley with the Magpies hungry to retain the Carabao Cup.
