GATESHEAD Council is poised to install an anti-domestic abuse “champion” as part of a new pledge to better support those experiencing violence.

As council reports state domestic abuse remains the leading cause of homelessness in Gateshead, the council is poised to appoint a new anti-domestic abuse “champion”.
According to council documents the purpose of the champion is to “own the activity you [the council] are doing to support people experiencing domestic abuse”.
