Community groups to take control of sports facilities

COUNCILLORS have agreed to transfer two sports facilities in Ryton and Rowlands Gill to community organisations after the lands were dubbed surplus to requirements.
-
Gateshead Council's cabinet have agreed to sign off Derwent Park bowling green and the Clara Vale recreation grounds to Tyne Valley Health and Wellbeing CIC and Ryton and Crowcrook Albion FC, respectively.
Pending successful negotiations, 35-year leases would be granted to the organisations for the rights to the lands and properties.
