Cats 'lost £3m' on Watson transfer

TOMMY Watson's transfer to Brighton & Hove Albion has seen Sunderland lose out on around £3million after resisting the temptation to sell in January.

The Wearsiders reared the 19-year-old in their academy and his performances for the U18s and U21s had many excited to see what he could do in the first team.

In a similar style to Jack Clarke, who left the club for Ipswich Town last summer and who is now back in the Championship, Watson has produced performances and goals, often cutting in from the left on impressive runs before unleashing an effort on goal.
