DEAN Nicholson bemoaned a 'disappointing performance' from Heaton Stannington as his side fell to a 1-0 defeat against East Division rivals Pontefract Collieries.

- By CIARAN MYERS

Joe Lumsden netted the only goal of the contest midway through the second half to ensure the visitors claimed all three points from their visit to the Willow Park.

Stan boss Nicholson believes the Colls “did a job" on his own side and explained his players will have to take the defeat “on the chin".

He said: “It was poor, which has been really unlike us this season.

“We'll need to take it on the chin unfortunately. It's not nice to lose football matches but we'll move onto the next one.

“We can say it was a disappointing performance, I think that's fair. We never quite got going for whatever reason, I don't know. They are a good side; they've done a job on us. They're really dangerous from set plays and throw-ins.”
