DAN Burn has told Thomas Tuchel and Eddie Howe he even would be prepared to play in goal if it allowed him to keep his World Cup dream alive.

- By LEE RYDER

The 33-year-old shrugged off a broken hand to take a place on the bench at Wembley against Wales on Thursday and has now put himself forward for selection in Riga against Latvia in Tuesday's qualifier.

Burn has been playing left-back and centre-back for Newcastle and is keen to add to his three caps for the Three Lions. He has major competition at Newcastle with Malick Thiaw and Sven Botman contesting the centre-back area and England boast an embarrassment of riches in the middle of the back line too.

When asked if he cares where he plays, Burn said: "I will play goalkeeper if the manager asked! I just want to be on the pitch, I have waited so long to be an England player, I just want to make the most of it.
