Anxious wait for Botman after Arsenal injury

SVEN Botman’s tour of the Far East could be over already after the centre-back underwent a scan after limping off in Singapore on Sunday night.

It means that Newcastle are down to just three recognised senior centre-backs in Fabian Schar, Jamaal Lascelles and Dan Burn with utility man Emil Krafth also on option.

If anything it underlines why Newcastle are in the hunt for a new centre-half with Botman also missing a large quota of games last term.

Newcastle are monitoring a number of transfer targets this summer and have been linked with Giorgio Scalvini, Marc Guehi and Dean Huijsen at various points.
