SUNDERLAND SCORER TO MAKE THE MOST OF HIS OPPORTUNITY AFTER MISSING OUT ON TOURNAMENT
SIMON Adingra was delighted with his first goal in a Sunderland shirt as he put his Africa Cup of Nations disappointment behind him.
Adingra scored the opener in Sunday's 1-1 draw against Leeds United, a bittersweet moment for the winger who was axed from the Ivory Coast squad for this year’s tournament despite being named man of the match in the 2024 AFCON final, which his country won.
His emphatic goal saw the Black Cats end 2025 with a 1-1 draw against Leeds United and maintain the club's unbeaten record at the Stadium of Light. It was a rare opportunity for him to start, with six players away at the AFCON - and Adingra admitted he was still devastated not to be joining them.
