40 new stones on path for service personnel

HUNDREDS of families and veterans gathered at a Sunderland park as new dedications were unveiled on the city’s National Veterans’ Walk Pathway.

Forty new granite flagstones, which each weigh 11.3kg and have the name of a former or serving member of HM Armed Forces, have been laid along the path in Mowbray Park.

In November 2016, the Veterans’ Walk campaign laid its first stones and there are now more than 1,200 ‘Tributes to Proud Service’ installed along the path, which is more than 50m long.
