I waited a whole year for Asoka Ranwala, MP, to confess and apologise for claiming a fake PhD, and resign from Parliament.
None of that happened. He is in the news again, so I thought of writing this.From the start, I had doubts about his PhD. I live in Japan, and Waseda University, from which he claimed his doctorate, is in Japan. Waseda is frequently ranked as the top private university in Japan, about 8th nationally (the government funded state universities have excellent reputations) and within the top 10-14% globally. To gain entry to Waseda’s doctoral programmes, one must have an excellent academic record.
