CSE picks-up speed following CBSL interest rate decision and growth predictions

CSE trading activities took off at a slow pace yesterday but later turned positive following the Central Bank's decision to keep policy rates unchanged at 7.75 percent and projections that the decision will help in steering inflation towards the target of 5 percent coupled with an expansion of economic growth, market analysts said.

Amid those developments both indices moved upwards. The All Share Price Index went up by 55.6 points while S and P SL20 rose by 14.08 points. Turnover stood at Rs 5.57 billion with 12 crossings. The top seven crossings were: VallibelOne 3.6 million shares crossed to the tune of Rs 372 million and its shares traded at Rs 103, Jetwing Symphony 13 million shares crossed for Rs 227 million; its shares traded at Rs 18.10, Hayleys 700,000 shares crossed for Rs 130 million; its shares traded at Rs 188.
