Calls to deport Democratic nominee for NYC mayor
The Independent

Some Republicans are calling on Donald Trump’s administration to revoke Zohran Mamdani’s citizenship and deport him from the country.
The 33-year-old likely Democratic nominee for New York City's next mayor declared victory in the primary after former New York governor Andrew Cuomo conceded the race on Tuesday evening.
The New York Young Republican Club reacted to the primary results with a "call to action" on X. "The radical Zohran Mamdani cannot be allowed to destroy our beloved city of New York," the group wrote, urging the president to invoke the Red Scare-era Communist Control Act to yank Mr Mamdani's citizenship and "promptly deport him".
The NYYRC, founded in 1911 as a political and social club for New York Republicans between the ages of 18 and 40, called on White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller and border tsar Tom Homan to take action. "The time for action is now," the group wrote. "New York is counting on you."
Following Mr Mamdani's victory, Mr Miller claimed New York City is the "clearest warning yet of what happens to a society when it fails to control migration".
"The entire Democrat party is lining up behind the diehard socialist who wants to end all immigration enforcement and abolish the prison system entirely," he added.
Republican Rep Andy Ogles of Tennessee referred to Mr Mamdani as "little Muhammad" and said he's "an antisemitic, socialist, communist who will destroy the great City of New York".

City's unpredictability tilts Champions League hopes
It is the sort of result that can mark a team out as potential champions of Europe. Beating Real Madrid in the Bernabeu, at the least, could offer an indication a team is equipped to defeat them in a final, semifinal or quarterfinal. Though, more than most, Pep Guardiola can testify to Real’s winning habit when the stakes are highest.

How can I kill time between my flights in Guangzhou?
Q I have eight hours at Guangzhou airport in China between flights on a journey from Melbourne to London. I looked for some kind of lounge or hotel in the terminal where I could rest, but the price appeared to be around £100, which is a quarter of what I paid for the entire flight. Any suggestions?
