Work finally starts on new shopfronts

AFTER more than a year of delays, one of Huddersfield town centre's most popular streets is getting a revamp.

The scheme, which will improve six “poor quality” shopfronts on John William Street, was expected to get under way back in March 2024. Now, the council is working alongside B&M Properties - the owners of the affected properties at 19 to 33a John William Street - to update signage and make the shops’ appearance more in keeping with their surroundings and heritage.
