PLANNING DOCUMENT FOR NEW ESTATES GIVES POSSIBILITY OF GROWING AREAS

- By JOHN GREENWOOD Local Democracy Reporter editorial@examiner.co.uk

IT COULD be a case of a council going back to its roots, if councillors approve policy guidance for developers building new homes in Calderdale.

Allotments or at least growing areas and other types of green space are possibilities, if the full council approves a supplementary planning document for open space in new housing estates as recommended by Calderdale Council's Cabinet.

The senior councillors noted that as well as the usual parks, play areas and green spots the document allowed for other types of green land for residents of new housing developments in Calderdale.
