OUR SITUATION HAS TURNED INTO REAL CRISIS, SAYS SEVERE COLITIS PATIENT

- By LYRA AULD

A HECKMONDWIKE father-of-two has undergone life-changing surgery after a chronic inflammatory bowel disease left him needing the bathroom over 20 times a day.

Louie Carter, 29, Heckmondwike, had 80 per cent of his large intestine removed, in an attempt to live ‘as normal a life as possible’ after three years of having uncontrollable bowels.

Louie’s symptoms started three years ago, at kickboxing class, when he noticed blood running down his leg.

He was quickly diagnosed with severe Ulcerative Colitis and began a string of treatments - but none of them worked.
