CRASH COURSE
The Huddersfield Daily Examiner
|April 23, 2025
MORE than 3,000 people have backed calls for action to improve road safety at two Huddersfield junctions described as accident blackspots.
Residents in Shepley and beyond, backed by local councillors, are demanding action to improve safety at the Carr Lane/Cross Lane junction and the nearby Sovereign junction. Local residents and road users have witnessed many near-misses and crashes and are desperate to reduce the number of crashes.
A petition organised by local Conservative councillor John Taylor has amassed 3,198 signatures and will now be submitted to Kirklees Council with the aim of triggering a council debate. Clr Taylor said the two junctions were accident blackspots, “posing a serious risk to motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians”.
