LABOUR'S 'WASTING TAXPAYERS' CASH' SWIPE AT COMMUNITY ALLIANCE GROUP AS THEY MAKE 'PADDING' AGENDA CLAIMS

- By ABIGAIL MARLOW

THE row over council motions rumbles on in Kirklees, as Labour have taken a swipe at the Community Alliance group.

As motions have mounted up at the end of each Full Council agenda, tensions have been rising among some elected members. Things came to a head at November's meeting, where 12 tabled motions were not heard, with some of these listed for six months after being first put on the agenda.

At the time, some independent councillors accused Labour and the Tories of attempting to "obstruct the democratic process" by "padding" the agenda to ensure motions were not reached. However, the two groups disputed this and believed they acted in the public's interest and had focused on the issues that matter to residents.
