2025/26 SEASON WILL BE A BIG ONE FOR ARGYLE MIDFIELDER

- By CHRIS ERRINGTON

CALLUM Wright will soon be entering the final 12 months of the three-and-a-half-year contract he signed with Plymouth Argyle when he joined them from Blackpool in January 2023.

Wright, who recently celebrated his 25th birthday, has made more substitute appearances than starts during his time with the Pilgrims. He also went two years without scoring a goal until he was on target in the penultimate match of the 2024/25 season, a 2-1 victory at Preston North End, which for an attacking player has clearly not been anywhere near good enough.

There were glimpses after Miron Muslic took over as the head coach in January that Wright could be an effective performer as 'a number 10' in a 3-4-2-1 setup but a lack of consistency remained an issue for him.

Following Argyle's relegation back to League One after two seasons in the Championship, Wright faces a 2025/26 campaign which promises to be a very important one for the direction of the rest of his career.
