Woolies return the 'prize' of high street action plan

PLACING a duty on councils to improve designated high street areas would help to get town centre shopping "back on track", ministers have been told.

Conservative MP Jack Brereton said the rumours of the return of Woolworths to British high streets could be part of the "prize" of getting his proposed law change right.
The Stoke-on-Trent South MP's High Streets (Designation, Review and Improvement Plan) Bill would require local councils to designate high street areas in the towns they serve and create plans to improve them.
