Woman died after falling from footpath

A 66-YEAR-OLD woman died after she fell from a path near Tavistock down a bank and was left for around three hours in the rain and cold, an inquest heard.

Area coroner Alison Longhorn opened the inquest into the death of retired palliative health care assistant Sarah Martin, who died on March 26, 2023.

The inquest heard witnesses were walking along the Gulworthy footpath, near Tavistock, on March 20, 2023, when they stopped to get a view of a viaduct.

They heard shouting and first thought it was children playing, before realising it was a woman shouting for help. They searched around the path before spotting a woman laying face down.
