UKRAINIAN DEFENDER IS ARGYLE'S NEW £1.7M RECORD BUY
NEW Plymouth Argyle club record signing Maksym Talovierov will be available for selection for the Championship match against West Bromwich Albion at Home Park today subject to EFL approval and international clearance.
The 6ft 5in Ukraine international defender has signed a three-and-ahalf year contract with the Pilgrims after completing his transfer from Austrian Bundesliga club LASK Linz.
The fee for Talovierov, who was part of Ukraine's squad at the Euro 2024 finals in Germany, has not been disclosed by either club, but it has previously been reported to be around £1.7 million.
It is the second time Argyle have made a club record signing this month after the arrival of Michael Baidoo for an undisclosed fee thought to have been £1.5m from Swedish side Elfsborg.
Talovierov is a much needed defensive signing for Argyle, who sold Lewis Gibson to Preston North End for £1.5m at the start of January and have had Brendan Galloway and Kornel Szucs both sidelined by injuries.
Head coach Miron Muslic said: "I have been open since I joined Argyle that we would be patient to bring in the right players who could help the team.
