Village pub closes 'with enormous sadness'

David Mann

THE famous Treby Arms pub near Plymouth has closed suddenly amid rising costs. The venue, at Sparkwell, announced on social media yesterday morning that it had shut.

Business owner and chef David Mann addressed the pub's "wonderful guests, friends, and loyal locals" and said: "It is with deep sadness that we announce the immediate closure of The Treby Arms."

He said: "Due to the continued rise in operational and supply costs, it is no longer viable for us to keep the doors open. This decision has not come lightly."

Mr Mann added: "The Treby Arms has always been more than just a pub - it's been a gathering place, a home away from home, and a part of the local fabric.
