WHAT a weekend, perfect weather in the perfect location, from what I saw of it on the Saturday I attended, Tunes in the Park 2025 was certainly a festival to remember.

Tunes in the Park is a festival to love

As a stalwart of the original Port Eliot Literary Festival the prospect of spending long weekends at the fabulous Port Eliot estate had always been an annual highlight.

Initially I was disappointed with the Tunes In the Park set up because we were only allowed minimal access to the estate, but now the boundaries have expanded and with river access all the way down to the pampas grass, to my mind the vibe has changed considerably for the better.

To erect the Comedy and Wild West stage among the pampas, by the river in front of the viaduct is just genius, creating a natural amphitheatre that can seat hundreds if not thousands. And certainly the hill was packed for headlining comedian and TV host Joel Dommett, as he delivered a hilarious, self deprecating set about his career to date and faux pas and mishaps on the show he fronts, The Masked Singer. Ahead of that were lesser known comedians, stand out of which was our very own Plymouth comedy queen Suzy Bennett spouting her unique Janner humour which would have deservedly won her a whole new set of fans.
